Crochet Amish Puzzle Ball
This crochet ball pattern is a a play on the Amish puzzle ball, which lets you take apart the wedges and put them back together again. These wedges give the ball a fun star-like shape that will certainly peak your little one's interests. You can make the wedges several different colors to inspire your child to learn problem-solving skills and colors at the same time. This functions as much more than just a puzzle, though it can also be modified to simply be a multifaceted crochet ball. Although putting this together will take some time, there are several handy picture tutorials to point you in the right direction, and you won't be disappointed with the final product!

We have a couple of Amish country stores in our area, and Ive seen the fabric versions of these toys. Being somewhat mechanically minded, Ive always been curious about how the pieces fitted together. This designer almost takes an assembly line approach, and offers a wealth of photos for virtually every step of the process. Its not hard, but is fiddly. I really appreciate that she uses completely different colored yarn for each circle. It makes it much easier to keep track.
