Tunic Tank Top Child Sizes
"This new tunic tank top pattern is perfect for little ones to wear out and about this summer. With a holey weave and customizable length, this tank top crochet pattern can be a tunic-style tank OR a pretty little dress! Because you are using a size 1 or 2 yarn (OR Crochet Thread (size 3 or 5 if using thread), the garment will be light and airy, so it won't weight down the recipient. "
Crochet HookG/6 or 4 mm hook
Yarn Weight(1) Super Fine (27-32 stitches to 4 inches)
Crochet GaugeThe measurement after row 1 is the most important part of this pattern! Keep your chain LOOSE and go up a hook size for the chain ONLY if necessary. That being said, you don’t want it so loose that it looks sloppy later. You’ll definitely want to do this gauge swatch pattern before you start:
Row 1: Loosely ch-17, dc in 3rd ch from hook (counts as V-st), * sk next ch, 2dc in next * repeat between * * to end. (8 V-sts) Pull to relax stitches – when stretched it should measure ~ 5.75”.
Rows 2 – 10: turn, sl st into first V-st, ch-3, dc in same. 2dc in each V-st to end. (8 V-sts)
When stretched width-wise, 5 ½ V-sts = 4”
Gauge is the trickiest part to this pattern, but once you get that nailed down the rest is a breeze!
