This is literally an antique pattern, so dont expect anything in the way of diagrams or photos. This pattern calls for heavy cotton crochet thread but it doesnt specify size. Im thinking #10 isnt heavy enough. Im going to try working this up with #4 worsted but it may be gigantic if I stick to the instructions. It does look like you can end it whenever you want.
