Just beautiful and, although we are most definitely in summer here in South Africa, I have already selected the yarn that I will be using, lol. Wearing a beautiful shawl always makes me feel really good and this one is going to be no exception. I just know that I am going to LOVE IT!

This is a great pattern to make if you live in the South. You can use it when it is not cold enough for a coat but you need something around you when it gets a little chilly.

I like the colors used in this Unforgettable Top Down Shawl. I guess this is a multicolored yarn that resulted in a beautiful elegant shawl. Love it!

This beautifully-colored shawl gets its name from the way it is made. It is crocheted from the top down to the bottom and this is a pattern by Red Heart yarns. I love the color combinations of the purples and lavendars and the way they combine together to form this accessory piece.

This unforgettable top down shawl from Red Heart looks like it took a lot of effort to complete. The secret is in the yarn selection. By using the Red Heat Boutique Unforgettable, which comes in 20 hues this effect is easy to achieve. Thanks Red Heart for this beautiful shawl.

I love the yarn used with this pattern. It only takes three balls of this Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable in Petunia to make this shawl. I have been in the market for a shawl and this one looks really easy to crochet. It is beautiful

Red Hearts Unforgettable yarns are very pretty. The unevenness of the yarn and the random way it is variegated makes each piece unique as the patterning is never the same. The yarn can be a little difficult to work with sometimes when you get to a section that is very thick and then suddenly begins string thin, but all in all I like it.

Oh this looks like a wonderful shawl to make for the coming winter that will be here in South Africa in just a few short months. The colours are beautiful too and I think I am going to make it in exactly the yarn as per the pattern because it looks so good. I am not to clear on the top down means of crocheting it but I suppose it will become apparent as I follow the pattern. If anyone can explain how it works I would love to hear from you.

Hi lspstewart, The print button should appear now - thank you! You can also highlight all the text and right click to Print selection and print that way. Either way should get you the same result. :) Thanks! Julia, editor for AllFreeCrochet

I love the looks of this shawl and really want to make it, but... Help! I am having super major issues understanding even the first row! Can someone explain it to me in more detail please? I am just getting a long weird chain because I do not understand. Thank you in advance!

Chain 3 and slip stitch into the first chain to form a ring. Then you will work row 1 in that ring as follows Ch 6 (count as dc, ch 3), (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 3, dc) around the chains you made to form the ring in the same way you would use a magic ring (or magic circle). I hope that makes sense.

I fell in love with this yarn and started crocheting the shawl as soon as I got home from purchasing the yarn! It is turning out BEAUTIFULLY! The complimentary colours fade and blend in to one another effortlessly for an olde worlde charm and look. I know that as soon as I block the shawl and wear it I am going to receive lots of requests from family and friends for their very own shawls!

I made the Unforgettable Top Down Shawl for a friend of mine who fell in love with the picture. It gave me a heck of a time to make. After row 10 it started coming out uneven and I ended up doing decrease stitches on one side to make it look right. I friend didn't want the boarder so it didn't take to long to make. I must also say I didn't like the way the top of the shawl looks, the center is strange. My friend is a medium built lady and I had to use 2 extra balls of Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable, so a total of 5 were used to make it go to here hips. I'm not sure if I would make this again, I could not figure out why the stitch count was off. Thank you for putting my skills to work for this free crochet pattern.

Hi there! I love this shawl ! As this is my very first shawl, I seem to be struggling. It looks really easy but I have made the first 10 rows, flogged it all twice and now nearly third time !! I could scream. Both sides should have equal blocks i.e., R5 correct ? I'm ending up uneven. Also, does the top slant downwards as you go along ? I'm sorry. I just can't understand what I'm doing wrong. I'm following very carefully.

I just bought yarn for this pattern and can't wait to make it! It seems like a good size. I like how long it is in the back.

I don't understand "rows 7 - 48 repeat rows 5-6 (21 times)" can you be a bit more specific in your explanation please?

it looks like rows five and six are different from each other, so it would be 21 sets, which is 42 rows.
