This is a stunning shawl. I love the colors. It fascinates me that the gradation is caused by using three strands of yarn and switching to two reds and a black at one point. Black is added in to make the beautiful effect at different points. I don't think I've used three strands at once in a pattern. Is it cumbersome to crochet with? I picture it being bulky.

Has anyone made this shawl using springtime or summer colors?

I have a pattern very similar to this (from the 60's). Have made it in pastels & it looks great. Don't know why it is rated as intermediate as it is a very easy pattern to follow. I made it when I was a newbie to crochet 14 or 15 yrs old.
