Side2Side Cowl

search

The Side2Side Cowl was designed to match the Side2Side Hat. This stretchy cowl with a knit look is soft, warm and cozy, perfect for cold weather! It is worked sideways in rows, back and forth, then the sides are slip stitched together to form a tube. This cowl will fit a child, but it is very easy to make larger sizes. Just start with more chains for a higher cowl and follow the instructions; add more rows until the cowl fits well around your neck.

I wasnt sure about this one, but since the designer created a matching hat, I thought I should at least give it a look. Im very glad I did because I discovered the secret to those exceptionally well defined knit-like rows. Ive worked that Special Stitch (Yarn Over Slip Stitch) under a different name, and you do get very pronounced ridges. This is great for a Beginner, too, as both the cowl and hat are worked flat.

Here is a cowl AND hat (available if you scroll further on down the pattern page) fit for a pretty princess. Done up in an icy blue, it will give a pop of color during the gray winter months. It can't be easier, with the single crochets worked into the back loops only...it gives the ribbed faux knit look.
