"This pattern is for a beginner to intermediate skill level. You can make it in an evening and customize it in any colors you choose. It makes a wonderful gift. If you can make a granny square, you can make this cowl. Finished size: 18” circumference (one size fits most) Note: My first cowl has stretched a good inch with use and is more "drape-y". My initial goal was to have a face gaiter for skiing. Great for kids. Materials: (Any worsted weight yarn) I used: Universal Classic Worsted Yarn (80% Acrylic, 20% Wool) 3.5 oz Red Heart with Wool (80% Acrylic, 20% Wool) 3.5 oz Crochet Hook - Size I - 9mm"

Easy

Crochet HookI/9 or 5.5 mm hook

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Finished SizeApproximately 18" circumference

Oh my gosh! This "Pop of Pink Granny Cowl" is totally girlie and totally cool at the same time. It's got that vintage vibe with the granny square, and the shades of bubblegum pink mixed with white give it that ultra-girlie appeal. For me, grannies are so much fun to make and very rewarding because I get near instant gratification! Not to mention, a small project like this which doesn't require a ton of yarn is easily transportable.

My senior ladies love working Granny Squares, so Im always happy to find some new project to challenge them. This is perfect because it functions like a scarf but doesnt take nearly as much time. I think I would add an extra square to make it with five squares instead of four. That would allow for some of the ladies hairdos to safely pass through!

What a great idea. I love granny squares. They are so easy and soversatile. You can make them in so many different colors. Mix, match, let your imagination run wild. I have many relatives in the northern part of the country that will be getting these for Christmas. I just make them now and put them aside.
