Lacy Summer Scarf
Accessorize your outfits this season with a Lacy Summer Scarf. Using bright crochet colors and this crochet scarf pattern you can wear the ultimate scarf all season long. The shell stitch is used making this a stunning and beautiful crochet design. You can finish the scarf with tassels or choose to leave them off. The finished scarf measures 58 inches long and 6 1/2 inches wide. However, if you want it wider you can just repeat the rows until you get the desired width. Using a thicker yarn than DK, you can easily adapt summer scarves like this one for the fall and winter.

A note from the designer of Lacy Summer Scarf:
Designing this scarf was my first foray in to using DK weight yarn. Being an innately impatient person who cannot wait to see how a project turns out, I had till then only used worsted weight yarn. Though worsted weight yarn makes your projects grow really quick and is the best weight for winter accessories, there is nothing that can beat the class of a thinner yarn.
Every time summer visits us I start thinking of crochet projects that can be worn in the warm weather. If you are a crochet addict, you will understand me when I say it is just so hard to put that hook down. This Lacy Summer Scarf pattern was designed for Mother’s Day. I altered the regular shell stitch to make it more airy and lacy. I tried it with both cotton DK yarn and acrylic DK yarn. The cotton one had more stitch definition while the acrylic had more drape. This stitch pattern grows very quickly and its repetitive nature will put you at ease instantly. This scarf can easily be turned in to a shawl by repeating the rows.

A DK weight or light worsted yarn is between a sport weight yarn and worsted weight yarn. The crochet gauge using hook 7 to I-9 is 12-17 single crochet stitches. :-)
