Large, interesting buttons always add a bit more interest to even the plainest project. The stitch combination for the pattern rows (HDCSlipSt repeat) already provides an interesting texture for the body of the cowl. Rather than seaming the cowl, follow the designers instructions on folding and using the buttons to secure the ends. I love this very different take on the usual cowl.
