Bamboo Cables Cowl
"The Bamboo Cables Cowl is so named because it is designed using super soft and silky bamboo blend yarn. The stitch pattern is a simple repeat that is quite simple to work up. The Bamboo Cables Cowl will take the average crocheter several hours to complete but it will be time well spent. The drape and feel of this cowl are wonderful and would make a lovely gift project. Or you may decide to treat yourself! This is an easy project to learn some techniques such as foundation stitches and front post/back post stitches."

The yarn used on this cowl is a blend of eighty percent bamboo and twenty percent wool. I have not worked with bamboo yarn but I have seen it at my yarn store and was able to get an ideal of the feel and texture. I am like the designer and have been meaning to learn how to do the different foundation stitches that eliminate the need for a starting chain.

I dont know how I would work several different projects if I didnt start with a Foundation stitch. It is my absolute go to when it comes to cowls or anything else thats long and needs to be joined. There are no worries at all about accidently twisting a chain because instead of a chain, you have essentially worked a flat ribbon of yarn. Its even handier if you deliberately want to twist the starting chain as for a mobius project.

I had to take a moment to actually watch the video tutorial for the foundation double crochet. I am convinced now that this technique will bring my work into the 21st century. What a classic and yet modern look to this drapey and slightly oversize cowl. Thanks for this new pattern offering!
