Aspen Tweed Cowl
"The chunky Aspen Tweed Cowl is the perfect no fuss, easy pattern for a single loop style scarf. This type of scarf can be dressed up or dressed down and is very warm when crocheted using the size 6 super bulky yarn. This pattern uses only half double crochets, but to get the beautiful texture, you will alternate crocheting half double crochets in the front loop of one stitch and then the back loop of the next stitch or vice versa according to the instructions."
Crochet HookM/13 or 9 mm hook
Yarn Weight(6) Super Bulky/Super Chunky (4-11 stitches for 4 inches)
Crochet Gauge9 single crochets by 10 rows in a 4" square.
Finished Size10” Height x 15” Width; 31” around.

This attractive cowl is created using the old Half Double Crochet, but instead of working it back and forth as usual, you alternate working the Front and Back Loops instead (the designer has a great photo of this). In other words, odd rows might be worked in the Front, and even rows in the Back. Theres a matching hat and set of mittens available as well.

A "basic" chunky cowl that is anything BUT basic! A beginner would be proud to be able to say that she (or he!) was able to make this for themselves. An apparel item such as this is a great winter craft fair offering. They work up fast, and you can charge a decent amount of change to sell it!
