Wheelchair Lapghan Pattern
This easy crochet pattern is a nice gesture to make for nursing homes for those in wheel chairs. Worsted weight yarn was used to keep this blanket nice and cozy. This will keep you or a friend warm. Use a favorite color for a great personalized gift, or use a mix of colors for a fun spark of color.
Crochet HookJ/10 or 6 mm hook
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

This wheelchair lapghan would be the perfect gift to make to donate to a nursing home or hospital. You could make a bunch in different colors, so there would be a variety for the residents to choose from. Do you know anyone who needs one of these lapghans? Thank you for the great idea!

This time of the year we at my crochet group are putting the final touches on what we like to gift to a local rehabilitation hospital. We have been gathering and making things since last year. Knowing this design was crafted for a wheelchair will make all the difference when we get together make decide on what to make next year. I think this one will be in on the short list.

Dont let the rather plain look of this lapghan deter you from making it. Like the designer, I also donate some. However after my husbands cardiac event a few years ago, Im sending a few to the Cardiac Care unit in his name. The nurses try to get the patients up and out of bed as much as possible, but there arent any small blanket to cover their laps. Hospital gowns are notoriously thin and robes arent always practical.

Oh yes. As suggested, this afghan will make for a lovely gift to nursing homes to cover the lap while on a wheelchair. I was thinking only of babies but yes, old people need love and care, too. Don't know about this particular afghan's size. I make lots of afghans for hospitals and those confined to wheelchairs. My typical siize is 36" by 48". For the average person this size covers the lap and legs without getting caught in the chair's works. Adjust the size according to the individual. The 48" afghan can also be laid over the seat and brought around the persons legs and lap after they are seated. This way the backs of the legs don't get cold; and the afghan is always at hand when needed - not in another room. (Of course if the person is incontinent, they probably won't want to sit on their afghan.) And remember, no fringe - it gets caught in the wheels. Hope this info helps

On the page, close to the picture on the left side, there is a comment highlighted in green. It says something like "click here for crochet pattern". If you do that you can just highlight the parts you want to print.

The best way would be to highlight with your cursor the portion of the page you want to print, right click to copy it, then paste it into a word document and print from there.
