Festive Christmas Baubles
"I am all about ornaments this year as my big crochet Christmas project is to make some homemade ornaments to hang on our tree. I was lucky enough to find some scrap yarn from my homemade tree skirt to use for my ornaments. Thats right, these crochet Christmas baubles only require scraps of yarn and less than 1 hour to make. I have a few Christmas tree ornaments that need a little attention because of wear. So instead of making a purchase of Styrofoam balls I could easily insert a purchased ornament. I can not wait to make a few of these and get them ready for the tree this year.

This year for the first time in a lot of years I get to put up my Christmas tree and I am totally exited. I know that with the multiple moves I have lost a lot of my decorations and now is the time to get started on replacing some if not all of them. I like the idea of using the Styrofoam balls but I think stuffing would be more cost effective and much easier to store.

These cute decorations are worked in halves and then used to cover a Styrofoam ball, thus ensuring their perfect shape. The designer provides numerous step by step photos of both the crochet halves and their assembly around the ball. She has them being crocheted together, but you could sew them instead. Making Xs around the ball at the equator would be very pretty.
