When I first saw the photo for this project I thought it was an earwarmer or headband rather than a hat. I love hats and headbands with unusual textures so I clicked on the link to the pattern itself. Since this is worked from the bottom up (to preserve the stitch pattern in the middle band) it would be very easy to make this into either an ear warmer or even a messy bun hat, too. Very versatile.
