Vina Hat
"Have fun practicing your cables with this beautiful free hat pattern! The Vina hat features twisty front-post cables separated by pretty shell stitches, and a stretchy ribbed brim. Instructions are also included to make a messy bun version of this hat. You can start it off with a chained ring or a hair tie. Whichever you prefer. Make it in grey, cream, black or any color, and it is sure to be a hit with your friends or family!"

This is one of my favorite hat patterns. Ive worked it up in both the hat and messy bun versions, and havent had any problems with either. Its worked from the top down so if you do choose the messy bun style, you can either use the chain circle or the commercial ponytail band (my preferred method). What gives this hat such a distinctive look is working Shell Stitches between the Posts instead of just regular Double Crochet. I just love the look of this hat.

I like this hat for the unabashed solidarity to the Red Heart Super Saver club. LOL. She proves that yes, we CAN make something nice out of the Super Saver yarns. In my opinion, the charcoal color she chose is suitable for both men and women alike. Make it in a pretty pastel like a blush pink for your girly-girls! Add a pink or ivory faux fur pompom to finish off that girly look.
