I don't think I've ever thought of a hat being snuggly until I saw this Toffee Apple Pompom Beanie. Now I have! It just looks like it could ward off any blizzard at all and do it in style too! Since it's designated an "easy" pattern and it's created with super chunky yarn I think it will make up quickly. This could be the Christmas of everyone gets one of these in their favorite color!

Olivia at Hopeful Honey always has the neatest ideas, and this chunky pompon beanie does not disappoint. The downloadable pattern (thats the only way to see the actual instructions) is available in three different sizes (Child, Teen and Adult). As for that marvelous huge pompon, she strongly suggests using one of the Clover Pompon Makers. I heartily agree, and if you dont already have these useful devices, go get them as soon as you can.

Does anyone know how to proceed if one wishes to use a 4ply yarn? TIA

Generally you can substitute two strands of 4ply worsted for one strand of bulky or chunky yarn. Use 2 individual skeins and hold the threads together. It can be a bit tricky, but you'll soon get the hang of it. You can use two of the same color, or different colors for added interest.
