"The Primrose and Proper slouch hat pattern is stylish and versatile, and I've included notes on how to make this for everyone from toddlers to adults! I've added some extra embellishments (of course--it wouldn't be my design if it didn't!), such as the ruffle that runs along the side of the hat, and an optional clip on flower. However, if you are not a fan of extra ruffles, there are notes that tell you how to work the pattern differently. Because this is made with worsted weight yarn, it works up within several hours and is good for those who are comfortable with "easy" level patterns, but want to stretch their skills a little further."
NotesYou need to be comfortable with working hdc in the 3rd loop. Instructions: Look at the top of the stitch, and locate the sideways “V”, bend the stitch to look at the back, and you should see another “V”. You’ll be working into the back loop of that “V”, this is called the 3rd loop.
Crochet HookI/9 or 5.5 mm hook
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
Crochet Gauge14 stitches in 4"

The directions for this primrose and proper hat included how to make this with or without the ruffle. I think the ruffle makes the hat and would not want to make it without. On top of that the little flower hair clip is just too cute. I love this pattern and I am saving it to make at a later date.

Hats are probably my favorite projects to work on. There are always such a wide variety of looks and styles, and this one is no exception. Its worked flat, and the seam is hidden by the interesting textures created by the stitch pattern. The designer gives instructions on how to adapt the hat for various sizes, too. I love that theres a matching scarf as well.

Oh my girlfriend who loves slouchy hats will love receiving this Proper Slouch Hat for Christmas. After reading the written pattern it reads well and should be easy enough to whip up in a evening. I'll now be on the hunt for the beautiful yarn to make this one. I'm happy to see that there are patterns for different size hats too and a scarf to match the pattern. Wow, so cool. I love the delicate look of this hat's stitches! I was excited to see that the pattern's designer has a pattern for a matching scarf, too. The hat and scarf set would make a really nice gift for a loved one.

Lovely hat and it is a prim and proper hat for this season of cold weather coming to the Northern areas soon. Not us because Florida doesnt get too cold, but this hat would be a lovely gift for a friend. A matching scarf would be a nice touch also because I always like to add a little extra.
