"This slouch hat pattern is worked from the bottom up in one piece. First we create the hat band and then we work across the row ends of the band to create the body of the hat. The hat body is crocheted in joined rows and we turn at the end of every row to create the stitch pattern. This project uses Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in a solid color; you can alternately change colors, or use a variegated yarn instead. The gauge is provided separately for the hat band and the hat body. Hat Band: 4 mm (G) hook: Approximately 10 sc per 2 inches and 9 rows per 2 inches. Hat Body: 5.5 mm (I) hook: Approximately 2 rows worked in pattern (R2 and R3) per inch. Approximately 3 stitch sets per 2 inches. Each stitch set equals 2-dc-cl and (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc)."
