A super all purpose and unisex slouch hat. Cotton would indeed be a nice choice for a hat. That's a yarn that I usually don't think of for hats. I am wondering, how do cotton COLORS mix? If I wanted to make this hat and do a contrast stripe, would these (cotton) colors bleed together and ruin the hat? Do cotton and acrylic blends work better when you are using/mixing several different colors together? I really wanna know.

Living between two universities, I see the college boys wearing this style hat year round. This is a great project for a Beginner wanting to add to their skills. Although the hat is worked entirely in Single Crochet, the designer does suggest working two strands of yarn together. Theres also the matter of working in the third stitch to create the occasional ribbing effect. It does require a lot of sewing though, so be prepared for that.

This is the perfect kind of hat that you could wear with pretty much anything. It's so versatile and classic that it would make a great gift for any man in your life.

I have been looking all sorts of beanies to make. I think I could almost come up with my own catalog with the number I have tried! This one looks like a quick and easy project, which is more my style. I think I will try this to give to my son who is in the military and is frequently stationed in some pretty cold areas.
