Messy Bun Woodland Hats
"Who said Woodland critters were just for kids? Here's my free pattern for the Messy Bun/Ponytail - Woodland Hat. I used one pattern to easily makes three designs - a fox, a wolf and an owl. More animals could easily be adapted using this pattern. It only requires a basic knowledge of single, half double and double crochet stitches. It's sized to fit Teen - Adult, but can easily be adjusted to a pre-teen by going down on your hook size. It uses #4 worsted weight yarn ("I Love This Yarn" from Hobby Lobby)."
Crochet Hook4.5 mm hook, I/9 or 5.5 mm hook
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
Finished SizeTeen - Adult

These are so clever. Clicking on the above link takes you to the designers Ravelry page, but theres no download, only a link to the pattern page. The good news for this very simple project is that all the critters use the exact same basic hat pattern. Only the added on bits are specific to the individual animal. Be sure to check out her other offerings, too!

Of the three pictured on the page, I don't know which one I like best. They are all so cute. However I think I will select the fox because of the color. Everyone will see me coming. lol.

My granddaughter has long(er) hair and is forever and always complaining to her mother about doing her hair (NOT!) These would be perfect for her to wear as it would keep her hair out of her face but she could still be messy. Hey, maybe I could make one for myself!

I hope your granddaughter enjoys one or all three...and, of course, grandma needs one, too...
