This is a great tutorial. All of Jessicas work looks so nice and it is presented in a way that is easy to understand. The pictures are great and show different views of her work. This crochet hat actually does look like it was knit. It fooled a couple of people that I showed the picture to.

I love the look of knit hats, but because Im such a slow knitter, Id become frustrated way before Id finish. This project is based on something I already do all the time. Instead of working a 10 or 12 stitch row of ribbing, you start by working a chain thats as long as the hat will be tall (plus some extra for the gather at the top). Work a rectangle, seam it together, gather and top it with a pompon and its done!

I use to knit because I loved the way you could make cables and the rib look. Then I saw some crochet cables and couldn't get over it. They look just like knit. Now I am doing crochet ribbing. It's perfect and it's so easy I wanted to kick myself. Thank you!

I love this easy faux knit hat! I love it for the fact that beginners can take this on without becoming discouraged. It looks like it was machine made! Now, if you are into the yarn poms you need to get yourself a pompom maker which is sold at your craft store. It will be money well spent.
