Vines and Twigs Slouch Hat
"The cables and post stitches running up this slouchy hat are reminiscent of vines and twigs – which is where it gets it’s name. This is a great project for someone just learning cables, or for the more advanced crocheter. It can be made in nearly any size and it goes well with the Vines and Twigs scarf I posted a couple weeks ago. So grab your hook, show off your skills and impress your friends!"

This looks interesting, but there is no locally available yarn listed in yarnsub. Everything I saw there I'd have to special order just to try it. Sad. It would be helpful to list some reasonable substitutes locally available like Redheart or lion brand, etc.

This is a really interesting hat, but I sure wish the designer had worked up the sample in plain yarn. The variegated yarn is pretty, but in this case, it tends to camouflage the texture. And with this hat, the texture is the entire point of the pattern. The only way I could actually see the texture was the last photo, showing just the back of the hat.

I like the look of this slouchy beanie and I am wondering what a good yarn substitution would be, since I have not heard of this yarn before- not seen it at my local store. It is worked from the center round and then increase your rounds outward. The band is then created LAST. I have seen lots of slouch hats where they are worked in the opposite manner. Just something interesting!

The texture of this hat is so stunning! It looks like the kind of hat everyone could use for the fall months.

I would like to use this project to learn how to use cables in crochet. I have not attempted to make anything with cables. Hope its not too difficult, but I feel confident that this pattern is as easy to understand as the rest of her patterns are. This is a very nice looking hat and will be great for my guys.
