I like this Crochet Cable Ponytail Hat pattern and video. The pattern is well written and if you have a problem doing the cables, the video is worth watching to help. The video will show you how to make the cables and not only that, but the whole hat. With the two of these you can make beautiful cable hats. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet and video hat pattern.

Unlike a lot of ponytail hats that begin at the top with a commercial hair tie, this one begins with the bottom ribbing. This is worked lengthwise using Post stitches rather than the more common short Back Loop Only rows. You could use the BLO method as long as the final stitch count remains the same (72). I would run a round of Single Crochet around the ribbing to make sure I had a good foundation for the cables.

These crochet hats are awesome and they look so similar to a knitted hat. If you dont know the difference between crochet and knit items then you wouldnt believe that it was actually knitted. Love the tropical colors to help brighten a dull, drab winter day.
