I'm not understanding what it means when increasing 6 sts each row, that after the 5th row there should be 30 sts and the next would be 48? It should be 36 sts for the 6th row, right?

Can someone help please? What does the pattern mean when it says "then every following alt row to 60 sts". Which alternate row are they referring to? Thanks!

If the hat came out bigger than it was supposed to, use a smaller hook. If I notice that the item is coming out too big, I unravel and use a smaller hook. I don't like unraveling, but it works.
