"With cold weather on its way, you’re probably crocheting up a storm. To keep those little ones you love warm this season, add the Baby Pom Pom Hat to your list of projects. This baby hat is the perfect gift to keep tiny ears warm and protected this season. The Pom Pom Hat is created using the detailed puff stitch and the pattern will teach you to create decorative poms to finish this project. As a perfect pair to these special stitches, this bonnet is made using Cascade Superwash Merino Yarn. It’s ideal for projects that will be exposed to outdoor conditions. Cascade Superwash Merino is made from 100% wool AND it’s machine washable, which makes this a very durable, easy-to-clean, and versatile yarn."

I don't know about you but I think that this hat is too cute. With the complimenting pom at the top and the ties I know a toddler that would be just adorable and warm wearing this hat. The puff stitch gives it an added layer of design or texture.

The majority of crochet hats are created by crocheting in some sort of circle from either the center top to the band or vice versa. This baby pom pom hat is not made in that fashion. Instead it is made in a square/rectangle and then joined. For this hat there are pom poms added for decoration. This is a nice change of pace.

This is a nice change from the usual worked in the round hats. This creation is worked flat in rows and then seamed to form the bonnet portion. I love the contrast between the Double Crochet and Puff Stitch rows. The designer gives very basic instructions on how to make poms, but to be honest, Id either use a commercial pom maker or buy them ready made.
