"Weather the next storm with the Auntie Em Twister Hat! This textured, knit-look slouchy hat includes a simple twist made by working the stitch pattern without joins. This pattern was designed for the 5th annual Cancer Challenge with Sweet Potato 3. Skills Used Basic crochet stitches: chain, half double crochet, single crochet, slip stitch Crocheting flat in rows (for hat band), crocheting in the round (for rest of hat) Crocheting in the back loop, crocheting in the 3rd loop on hdc stitches (with linked videos to help you identify these loops) Special stitches: 3Ldec and FLdec (with written instructions and linked video tutorials in pattern)."

Yarn Weight(6) Super Bulky/Super Chunky (4-11 stitches for 4 inches)

This Auntie Em Twister Hat is so cute looking. I like the different stitches put together to create this hat. The directions are for all sizes and will make a great gift for anyone. I like the colors she used. I wonder I if could use # 3 or #4 yarn and what size hook I should use? That is what I have on hand, no bulky yarn. I'll have to play around with this and see.. Thank you for sharing this free crochet hat pattern.

If you tire of making crocheted things for friends and family, why not consider making hats to donate to various charities instead? You hard work can turn into something that a person or family in need will really appreciate. Maybe your family or friends might shove that hat to the bottom of the drawer and only wear it when they are with you? She gives us a few links to different charities that are accepting hats. What a great idea to GIVE to those truly in need. LOVE -)
