Delila Baby Hat
"Create this gorgeous newborn baby beanie with this easy to follow pattern. Simple and sweet, makes a great gift! The pattern is made with bulky weight yarn or working 2 strands together of medium worsted weight yarn making this a quick project! Create a set with my matching baby bootie pattern! Very cute and works up fast. Great for a beginner. Uses size K hook and double crochet and front post double crochet stitches. Enjoy!"

I want to make this but in much lighter weight yarn. It's too heavy for Florida the way it is. But changing to a baby weight will fix that. I can make up a bunch and drop them at the children's Shriners hispital in Tampa as a gift. They would love getting them.

I think I found the perfect charity project for infants in hospitals. I see that there is a baby bootie matching pattern, too! This is a different kind of baby layette due to the use of a chunky yarn. Usually baby stuff is made up of the DK weight or a lighter worsted weight even. So the fact that we have a choice to make something up using a chunky yarn make me happy -) The colors are amazing! It looks so easy to make.

Despite being presented here using pink yarn, the design of this delightful beanie actually makes it unisex. It starts out similarly to many other beanies, but the deep ribbing design of alternating Double Crochet with Front Posts is what makes it special for me. Id like to copy that for my next adult hat, too! Theres also a matching bootie pattern as well.

I was just at Michaels earlier today to check out their yarn and found a skein of this exact color yarn in the clearance bin. I used the nearby price scanner and it read that it was only .39. Wow, I have never been so lucky. I only wish that there was more than the only one skein left. Now I have to make this baby hat.
