These are nice little doilies. The above example uses scrap yarn, but if you go to the designers site, you can see other examples using single colors and two toned versions. This is nice to use as practice before progressing on to more advanced projects, too. While it doesnt contain all the elements of more intricate patterns, it does contain some of the more common ones.

This pretty polly mandala is really a great way to use that some of that leftover yarn, if you have it. This would be a perfect size to make a pillow or to hang on a wall somewhere that the yarn matches the decor Mandala's are so in right now.

It is me, or is the "new" mandala just a upgrade on the dollies that our mothers and grandmothers made. I find them very attractive and the next one is even more beautiful than the last but I have to tell you I think they are just supped up doilies.

It's true! This IS an easy pattern to work up. I love these for French press coffee trivets to protect my coffee table. Another idea for doilies or mandalas are to use them on your couch arms and chair arms to protect your upholstery from dirt and oils. Plus, it adds a nice colorful touch to the look if you have neutral fabrics.
