I went to the Smiley' Yarn site...wow! Now I can afford to crochet an afghan for my daughter in the Navy. I will send a extra one for her to give to someone that maybe in need of a care package.

I make lap robes for wounded warriors through Soldiers' Angels. I have also made scarves and hats. I wish I could find a place to buy yarn wholesale. I sue a variety of stitches and make up patterns. The lap robes usually measure 36 by 48.

I would try getting a hold of Red Heart Yarn and ask them if they would donate some yarn to you for your projects. They may want you to prove through Soldier's Angels or something like postage that you make these lap robes but it's worth a try.

You could make an afghan just using single crochet because it would still feel like something from home. Doesn't have to be fancy at all. You could use scrap yarn as well.

Just email: mh.comfort.project@gmail.com (military Heroes Comfort Project). They have patterns that the fit the size of the chairs in the chemotherapy, infusion, and radiation beds. Such a great cause!
