Very cute idea. I was thinking of making either two alike or perhaps one in a solid color like green to go with it and then using that one as a sort of backing. That way it would make a matching trivet or hot pad to put out with the coaster. Or a larger one for a center piece doily .

Using this pattern, I created watermelon placemats by crocheting larger ovals. Cute
