Our closest and therefore most frequently shopped grocery store is Kroger. Theyve recently announced that in the near future, they wont be offering plastic shopping bags any more. This project would make a nice alternative since it could easily be worked up using plarn made from those same plastic bags. Cloth bags are fine for dry items, but who wants their handiwork messed up by a leaky meat package?

I wish there were more instructions to this bag. I will have to look up how to do the FSC to begin the bag. I was disappointed that you have to do two sides. It would be nice to have the instructions written in the round so you just have to join the bottom. I do like the look of the bag and may do it anyway.

Hi Tricia108, sorry to hear you're having trouble with this pattern. FSC means Foundation Single Crochet, which is a way to start a project without chaining. We have a video tutorial on the technique here: https://www.allfreecrochet.com/Crochet-Videos/How-to-Foundation-Single-Crochet. If you're more comfortable starting with a chain, you could ch 47, sc into the ch next to your hook, and in each ch across. This would start you off with 46 stitches, and you could continue the pattern as written from Row 2 onward. I hope this helps! - Laura, editor of AllFreeCrochet

This is a summer bag that takes you right into fall, easily adapting from your jean shorts and sneakers to your corduroys and leather booties. You can change up your color scheme, too, of course. But why would you want to? These colors seem to be perfectly neutral so that it goes with most of your wardrobe easily! All you need to know are double crochets and half-double crochets to create that zig zag puff that you see.
