This is a nice, basic amigurumi project that can be adapted in several ways. Not only can dress up the elf (add hair and accessories, or change the gender or color of the outfit), but it would make a nice little bean bag, too, if you were to stuff the bottom portion with something heavier than fiber fill. Ive done this with similarly shaped amigurumi, and it works well to keep them in place.

This is so cute. I would like to make two and have them sit on my fireplace. I think I will make one like shown and then one in reverse colors.they will look like elf on the shelf. My grand kids will love them. Thank you so much for sharing this pattern.
