Patchwork Cat

search

"This patchwork cat is designed in the style of a classic quilt block. Use planned colors, as I did, or make it scrappy. Exact gauge is not critical for this project but stitches should be small so that fiber filling doesn’t show."

Easy

Crochet HookG/6 or 4 mm hook

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Oops! At first glance, I thought this was a stuffed letter H. Then I read the title of the design and was pleasantly surprised. I could see the cat at that time. Now, my little neighbor loves cats and guess what her name begins with? Yep! Perfect birthday gift found! I have until May to get it done so I have to move a few projects around.

This quirky little kitty cat surprised me a bit because I thought this was a Tunisian project. Reading through the instructions and especially the excellent chart, I dont see why you couldnt work the individual strips that way. One thing I would definitely change is the eyes. Those commercial eyes just do not go with the primitive look of the cat. Ill have to think about it, but Ill probably wind up embroidering the features instead.

I really like the looks of this and the ease of making it. It's another take along project. You can do so much with it. I am thinking of making this and using what ever colors I use to make a matching crib blanket . I think it would be a wonderful gift idea.

Oh cute. I am not a cat person myself, but I have several friends and relatives that are. I was really expecting much when I clicked on the link to see the pattern, but darn, I really like the look of this. It really has my interest. I am very seriously thinking about making a couple for gifts for those friends.

The poly fiber fill will be your best bet to withstand a lot of squishing and snuggling because a cotton fiber fill is too soft. I have a great idea of making a cat like this for an accent pillow for a chair- how about in a baby girl's nursery? Just adorable. How about for a more grown up look, transform it into a rustic country cat with colors like a dutch blue, ivory and a deep cranberry? This is a fun crochet project if you've been searching for something different to make.
