As of August 13, 2024, the video linked just above this pattern is not for this same blanket. The written pattern uses sc and dc, but the item made in the video uses just dc. Please fix!

As of Nov 06, 2024, video STILL shows only dc used for this pattern. I would like to see a close-up view of the green blanket shown in the pattern.

I consider myself more than a beginner at crocheting, but I am having difficulty with the hook going into the back bump while doing first stitch. How can I be sure Im doing it correctly.

Hi. I would like to make this afghan but in a different yarn. The yarn I am considering is worsted cotton/wool, 262 yds/ 3.5 oz ball and 20-22 stitches/4". The suggestion is a 4-4.5mm hook. I'm not sure how many balls would be required to be the equivalent yardage needed for the project. Your help is appreciated.

Hi Carrie, our friends at TheCrochetCrowd.com have a really helpful yarn substitute calculator tool at this link: https://thecrochetcrowd.com/calculator-yarn-substitutions/. I hope this helps! - Laura, editor of AllFreeCrochet

I need your help. I would like to make this afghan, but in a different yarn. Im not sure how much of the yarn it will require. The yarn is worsted cotton/wool. 262 yds, 3.50z ball. 20-22 stitches/4. How many balls is the proper conversion?

I am a total beginner yes, looking for easy patterns. I seem to be partial to variegated colors. Do you think that would work with a pattern such as this? Hoping I get to something like this soon.

Hi sandar 1614368, you could definitely make this afghan using a variagated yarn. That would be a great way to make a multicolored piece without the hassle of changing colors. We hope this helps! - Editors of AllFreeCrochet

Has anyone made this in a smaller version? I'm wondering how long my starting chain should be for a 36x45 blanket. Thanks!

In this pattern, simply measure a chain to whatever width you want,. ending in an odd number . There's your size, then simply do as many rows as you would like for your length, measuring again along the way. Beautiful afghan. Hope this reply helps you.

At first glance, this afghan looks like it could be a store bought woven blanket. I guess using only single and double crochet is what gives it that appearance. It also causes you to use a lot more yarn but it will make a super warm afghan.

What made me stop to take a second look was the title. You could not have been more right. The video is spot on and greatly appreciated. I just adore the color used her. Such a deep warm color just right for fall and winter.

I thought I had seen this stitch before, but it's called the Seed Stitch and very easy to make and very intricate in design. Love this pattern! Wish I had more time to make all the different afghans and things I've found in the past year!!

The name of the afghan is right. I have to look up that yarn and see how much yardage is in each so I know how much yarn to use. There is no reason you can't use yarn you have on hand. I do like Caron yarn as well. Good thing to make as the weather is getting colder. Thank you for the pattern.

Okay I think this is it! My mom is always the one doing all the crocheting and quilting for all of us for Christmas gifts and I think it's high time I give back one! I have to admit that I'm not the most accomplished and soooo this one will fill the requirements. It's beautiful too!

I do like this World's Easiest Afghan pattern here on this page. It is a easy two stitch pattern that looks so nice and it's easy enough for the beginner crocheter. This pattern makes a nice size blanket that would be great to use in the car when hubby demands using the air and your freezing. LOL But I'm sure mine will be a purple color I'm just not a green color person.. Thank you for sharing this free crochet pattern.

Simple combination of stitches making a really nice pattern, this is a good project for our teenage daughter to practice her new crocheting skills. She chose her favorite soft blue and I did the starting chain row for her because her chains are still very uneven, but now she is happily on the 3rd or 4th row and I am about to start making something for myself which will be a nice change, lol!

The worlds easiest afghan does look very easy to make from just glancing over the directions. I see a lot of comments from others that it is indeed easy since it is made with single and double crochets. The only thing that I see that needs to be changed is the color. I have never been a fan of the color green and this moss green makes this afghan kind of dull. It needs a bright and happy color or several colors.

This afghan is made up of single crochets and double crochets, so it is going to give a nice textured look to the completed piece. I happen to like the moss green. It's an unexpected neutral! This is a great beginner "big" project to show off what you have learned and be proud.

True to its name, this World's Easiest Afghan seems so easy to make, it only uses the single crochet and double crochet stitches. This afghan will help calm frayed nerves. It is so comforting to find this afghan lying on the coach when you get home from work. It is so nice to snuggle under the sheets especially on cold fall and winter months. I can't wait to make this in a different color. This will look gorgeous in either solid or multicolored yarn.

I've made this several times with Bernat Blanket yarn. 7 big balls for a full sized afghan, three and a half for baby. Looks great, and so warm!

Made this as my very first afghan. I used three colors (Vanna's Choice yarn) and made stripes, then used another fourth color to make a border on it. It's so soft and warm, I'm almost tempted to keep it for myself instead of sending it to my friend for her birthday!! Guess I'll just have to make another one for myself.

I love the fact that this blanket has a beautiful texture even though the pattern is still so simple, glad you found this pattern easy as a beginner and hope you find ways to customize it to make it your own! I love using several colors to make a striped pattern or adding a border!

My very favorite "one color" afghan stitch. It makes a nice fabric with no big holes, and if using variegated yarn the colors tend to "puddle" instead of striping. Especially affective with a camouflage variegated.

Hi, I'm a beginner at crocheting love this afghan. Is there a way I can get the same size afghan without using 12 skeins of yarn?

After being a few rows into this afghan I noticed the shape was changing to that of an inverse trapezoid with rounding toward edges when the material was relaxed. Any suggestions?

A friend is making this same afghan one side is staying straight, but the other side is leaning outward as yours is. Anyone out there have any insights?

If you keep track of the stitch count in each row (ie 156) the sides will stay even.

Hi, you have some lovely patterns on this site and I'd love to try this one. But I'm in the UK, and our wool comes in balls and is sold by weight, e.g. 50g, 100g etc. I don't know how much is in a "skein", or whether all skeins are the same (or even what a skein is to be honest!). Is there any way to find out how much wool I would need? Many thanks
Cathy

For the yarn suggested, which comes as 113g skein, you would need just over 1350g. For the record, a "skein" is defined as yarn or thread that is lightly twisted into a coil. This method of packaging the yarn keeps it mostly free from tangling, and makes it easier to use. The weight of the skein or length of material depends on the material itself. Not every "skein" is the same length or weight. Hope this helps.

Hi! I am excited to try this pattern! I was wondering, for the yarn is it the one pound yarn from Caron? Thanks!

Thanks for the pattern. I think it's easy once you understand it. Perhaps a diagram will help to clarify it to beginners. In the picture the Afghan looks fluid, not rigid. I may try it. ) I do have a question you say "With RS facing, join yarn with sl st to bottom right corner. Ch 1. Work 1 row of sc evenly up side of Blanket. Fasten off. Rep for other side." Does the edge uses just one side of the stitch or why should I "repeat on the other side"? Thanks!

i don't think this has a name .I can try and help if you like . row 1 single crochet in 2 chains from your hook then double crochet in next stitch . you keep doing that across. row 2 switch the stitches . so you will do a single over the double and a double over a single . I really hope that helped and no confused you more

So easy you can watch tv while you crochet. I made this in a beautiful baby turquois, stopped half-way, not full length, single crochet two rows all around, followed by one row double crochet for a ribbon carrier, finished in shell edge. I'm proud this will be for my first grandchild, expected in two weeks and it's so beautiful, and was very easy.
