Wow! This Simple Vintage Blanket is definitely a beauty! I love the texture of the yarn and the stitch pattern. I've never done a V-stitch before so when I'm finished with this one I'll be able to say I've added it to my stitch collection. My eldest son is getting married in June and both him and his fiance are always snuggling under afghans I have here at the house so this might make the perfect gift for them!

It is hard to believe that you can put the words simple and vintage in the same sentence. Usually when I think of vintage I think of high quality and that usually takes a lot of effort to make. I read over the directions and this is certainly a easy project and it would be a family favorite.

This would be a welcomed blanket if you really need a heavy duty blanket. I live in the south and although it does get cold, this is not a necessity. I would probably select a less expensive yarn to complete this is a lighter weight yarn as well. Beautiful design. Has anyone ever noticed that the "vintage" pieces are in some hue of white/off white?

This looks like a very thick and soft blanket. I agree with princess6860504 about the cost. I shopped online for the yarn required for this blanket and found that it is currently going for about $8.50 / skein depending on who you buy it from. Using the amount of yarn the designer says and they yarn alone will cost me almost $70.

I am not sure if I could afford to buy 8 skeins of Bernat Blanket yarn all at once, but I could certainly take advantage of various coupons and sale prices to buy up the amount over time. I believe it would be worth it, to have a piece like this in my home. Matter of fact, I am wanting to make an afghan for a girlfriend, for her new home. This one fits the bill!

The use of coupons and sales really comes in handy for this type of purchase. That is what I have done for my projects. You can do it for half of the estimated cost
