Two Skeins or Less: 12 Quickie Crochet Afghan Patterns
A few years ago, I had the bright idea to start crocheting my own striped blanket. I used simple double crochet stitches and didn’t plan on using any color changes except when I finished a full skein of yarn. As I soon found out, however, crocheting a full afghan is a huge commitment. I’ve been working on it off and on and I’m only a quarter of the way done… and about three skeins in. It’ll get finished one day and be super cozy and colorful, but until then I’ve been devoting myself to smaller projects like crochet throws and granny squares and crochet baby blankets, especially since I have a new baby cousin in the family.
Crochet baby blankets, lapghans and simple crochet throws are all great ideas of quicker blanket projects to make with two skeins of yarn or less. Sometimes less is more and you only need to use up a skein for an adorable baby blanket. Or, use up two skeins for an airy and lacy throw. These quick crochet blanket projects are worked up in no time and can help you work through that yarn stash of extra skeins of yarn. If you’re in need of a quick crocheted gift, these will do the trick just fine.
We’ve gathered up a small selection of our 12 absolute favorite one skein wonders and two skein throws just for you. Whether you’re after a quick one skein baby blanket or a chunky crochet throw, or you’d like to create something more textured and use up two skeins, we’ve got the perfect crochet blanket patterns. Just a quick note, for most of these patterns, the one or two skeins referenced and used are the jumbo or one pound skeins, so keep that in mind when buying yarn for your projects.
