We’re Crazy for Cables: 20 Crochet Cabled Afghans
Fall is here! Well, almost. Very soon the leaves will begin to change colors and the temperature will begin dropping (fingers crossed for a spectacular display of colors this year). Apple picking, pumpkin spice lattes, homemade vegetable soup, and the scent of savory cinnamon candles are all things to look forward to as we move farther and farther into the season. Gone are the days of the bright summer colors and lacy patterns. It’s time to break out the cable stitch!
Don’t get me wrong, as a crochet fanatic I’m a fan of just about every style of crochet, but the crochet cable stitch is one of my favorite. I just love the texture that these crochet afghans have. Where as lace patterns create a unique design with their use of negative space, cabled patterns jump from the surface. Combined with stitches like the basketweave stitch or popcorn stitch, they’re my go to when I want something thick, cozy, and full of texture.
Whether you choose to go neutral with a brown or white, or use a rustic hues like fig, butternut, ivy, or burnt orange, you’ll be guaranteed to have an outstanding blanket with any of these gorgeous crochet blanket patterns below!
