I love using this stitch (also known as the moss stitch) because it gives a nice texture and it makes the piece you are working on come together so quickly. It is a great beginner stitch too. As the poster below mentioned, using multiple colours really makes it pop. It creates a staggered effect that you typically see only in the more complex stitches.

I recently learned that the granite stitch is also known as the moss stitch. Personally I think that the design is more pronounced when completed in more than one color. I have see an article of clothing created in the granite stitch and it turned out great but after seeing it in multiple colors you will agree I am sure that the design can be appreciated more that way.

It is always great to find a project that has matching pieces. This is a hat and cowl set and if you love to have both, this is the pattern for you. I am still not totally on the boat for a cowl yet but I have a friend that loves them. This will be the perfect gift set for her this Christmas.

Absolutely beautiful. The Pantone Caron yarns look so well thought out and well put together- they take the guess work out of making those hard decisions! Ha! The look of the granite stitch is a classic. Good for many apparel items including sweaters. As a matter of fact making a sweater in the Pantone yarns would look amazing! I'd love to see that for myself.

I saw these same yarns in JoAnns the other day, but didnt stop to examine them. Looks like I need to run right over there tomorrow! As for the Granite Stitch, I know Ive worked something similar but it wasnt called by this same name. It sounds simple enough but dont count on any photos for this project. Yet another reason to learn how to both read and write those universal crochet charts!
