Simple Cable Beanie
"I love the look of cables but I don't have enough patience to knit them (especially in the round, yikes!). With this pattern I set out to make crocheting cables easy, fun and pretty and I think the heather yarn really makes them pop. The free pattern is for a medium (Woman's) size and comes with lots of cable crochet tips and pictures. I've added a faux fur pompom to the delight of my daughter but have also made one in gray for a teenage boy. The classic look of cables is for men and women alike."
Crochet Hook4.5 mm hook, H/8 or 5 mm hook

You can never have too many beanies, at least not in my house. Somehow they will get lost and then found but when you need them you just don't know what happened to it. So when I find a new, simple pattern I save it and when I find a few spare moments I make it. Thanks for the free pattern.

I love me some videos. Thanks for the post. I also like the look of cable and I have no knitting skills. I appreciate this pattern because it give me the opportunity to have a finished beanie that gives me the appearance of being a knitter. Note I really like the little tag that was attached to the brim.

I like the look of this Simple Cable Beanie. The pattern is well written with a few great videos to help. You can buy a copy of the pattern for $2.50 or just save the pattern here for free. I've saved this one and will be making it soon. Looking forward to having this great looking cable beanie. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet hat pattern.

How have you all gotten this pattern? It says it is 'free', but it is not! I was trying to put it into a Word doc, but all that has been disabled.

Hi telediv, The pattern is free on the site if you scroll down a little bit. :) An ad-free PDF version is available for a small fee for your convenience, but otherwise you can view it all right on the website. You can also just print directly from the page - ctrl + P on your keyboard. :) Julia, AFC editor

I work cabled projects on a fairly frequent basis, but I still like reviewing the technique before starting a new project. The tutorial suggested by the designer is excellent, so if you still need a little confidence, take a few minutes to work through the small sample swatch. There is also a .pdf available for this project for a small fee at the designers Etsy and Ravelry sites.

Very cool how she took a simple cable beanie pattern and made it turned it into an expensive and professional looking unisex wearable- the men's version would be without the pom pom. I cannot tell you how difficult it has been for me to find these faux fur pom poms at the stores. I think the best option would be an online store.
