Catona "Paper" Chain
"While brainstorming ideas to motivate my kiddos to do their summer reading, I came up with a little crochet pattern to share with you. I wanted something visual and tangible that allows them to "count" books or minutes read--something that would show progress towards their goal. Thus, the idea of a paper chain--the kind I made in grade school as a child seemed just the ticket! But, rather than running for the paper, I ran for the yarn (of course). A crocheted chain!"

It is true. Necessity if the mother of invention. Sometimes we have to go out of our way for our kids. This is one of those time. Reading is truly fundamental and we need to show them just how important. My children know and understand just how important my crochet time is and to make this for them would have shown them how much reading is just as important.

Granted the paper chain would have been much easier and less time consuming but this will be a treasure for you children to keep for a life time to remember this summer of reading. Thanks for sharing this idea. I am sure someone will get some use out of it.
