Bird's Nest Necklace Pendant
"This project was inspired by some gorgeous beads from Harvey at The Big Purple Barn! He specializes in recycled lampwork beads, and he sent me some absolutely beautiful beads made from a vintage Jim Beam Bottle! They are a delicate creamy blue-green - I don’t know if my photos do them justice! But they were reminded me a bit of little eggs, in need of a nest. I’ve seen the handmade wire and bead bird’s nest necklaces - but I wanted to do one in crochet! With 3 of these lovely beads, to represent my own little birdies, who’ve flown off to school once again. The free Bird’s Nest Necklace Pendant is the perfect quick make on a quiet afternoon!"

Oh this is so sweet. I have made one for my eldest niece and she absolutely adored it. Soon the two younger ones were clamouring for birds nests of their own. So I made another two. I used different coloured beads each time. I also used variegated yarn in browns and creams for the nests. They turned out beautifully. I'm wanted to figure a way to make the chain resemble twigs of a tree with some leaves. Ideas?

This is a cute pattern which will be great for using up my stash of oddments, I always have a variety of beads in my craft box and so plan to make a few of these using different weight wool and needle sizes as I love to experiment with your free patterns like these.

This would make a cute necklace. I plan to use a thinner yarn that would resemble a real nest, brownish in color and use some of the beads I have.
