Yarn Ball Crochet Elf
If you have extra green yarn from all of those Christmas crochet projects, work up this Yarn Ball Crochet Elf. This is a great way to get your kids involved in your crocheting, as you can crochet the elf's hat as your children build the no-crochet body. This little guy is an adorable homemade Christmas decoration, and would be a fun classroom craft if, instead of crocheting, you made the hat from felt. The possibilities are endless with this free crochet pattern, so make a few of these little stash busters and rejoice in your cute new decorations.

This is a cute idea, but I would feel so guilty wasting that much yarn on just the balls! One option would be to glue some yarn around Styrofoam balls for a similar look. A good craft for kids as it combines a number of different mediums. An adult would probably need to make the Elf hat. Adult supervision would also be needed for assembly using a hot glue gun.
