"The Speedy Crochet Santa Hat Crochet Pattern is perfect for working up a last minute festive accessory. Available in 5 sizes 0-6mth, 6-12mth, Toddler, Child and Adult, this is perfect for all the family. The hat is made holding 2 strands of DK yarn together and using a 9mm hook so, true to its name, it works up in around an hour. The pattern is worked from the peak downwards in a continual spiral using simple stitches, making this a great project for beginners."

I thought what makes this project speedy was the use of an oversized hook and I was right. The designer also makes use of double stranding regular #4 worsted, so no need for an extra trip to the store for some Bulky yarn. Unlike most patterns Ive seen, this one starts with the Adult version and has the adjustments for smaller sizes listed separately.
