Shimmer Christmas Tree Skirt
"My Christmas Tree looks a little lonely and empty right now. I am very excited about how we will decorate it and do some fun Christmas Crafts together. First on the decorating list is a Christmas Tree Skirt. I used Red Heart Shimmer Yarns. If you can not find this yarn, you can use Red Heart Christmas yarn, or I love this yarn Sparkle. Any Worsted Weight (4) Yarn will work."

While I am in love with the idea of the classic, vintage granny squares being used to create this tree skirt, I do not love the final outcome. I would like to figure out a way to improve upon those border rows that are used to join all the granny "triangles" together. I would either like to see it as a hexagon or a big square. Just my personal preference!

Now this is something really different! Instead of working granny SQUARES, you work a set of granny TRIANGLES. After you sew the triangles together, you enclose the pieced work within a series of crocheted bands to finish off the project. Im definitely making this, but using the Caron One Pound to give it plenty of density. To me, this should be more like a rug than a soft garment.
