Now is as good of a time as any to learn a new crochet stitch! Learn Star Stitch Crochet by Jenny King features seven fun crochet patterns to make using the star stitch.
This crochet patten book from Annie's will teach you everything you need to know about the star stitch. For those of you that are not familiar with the star stitch, it's a fun, textured stitch that's surprisingly simple to crochet once you've mastered it. It's a 2-row pattern repeat: Row 1 is where you crochet the base of the star and it's completed on row 2.
Inside Learn Star Stitch Crochet, you'll find a nice variety of crochet patterns including crochet scarves, slippers, baby blankets, and more. The Everyday Scarf (pg. 2) is probably my favorite pattern in the whole book because it's so versatile and will complement practically any outfit. Other favorites of mine include the Buckle Cowl (pg. 10), Button Cuff Slippers (pg. 16), and the Log Cabin Baby Blanket (pg. 24).
Skill levels for the crochet patterns range from easy to intermediate, so you'll really be able to test your new skills thoroughly on each of these crochet patterns. Author and designer Jenny King does a great job explaining each crochet pattern and every design is accompanied by full page color photographs and stitch diagrams. If you run into any questions along the way, simply refer to the Stitch Guide and Metric Conversion Charts in the back of the book.
