Free Form Crochet
Free form crochet is when the sky is the limit. You aren’t following patterns, you are making odd shapes. Maybe adding colors not typically seen together to be outstanding. Free form crochet is typically used in Scarves, table runners, and blankets where you as a person aren’t defined by known geometric shapes.
Pros & Cons
- Knowledge of stitches is a must as odd shapes working together may need a different type of stitch here and there.
- Excellent jig saw like item to follow. It will test your patience and really give you a sense of satisfaction when its all said and done.

Free Form Crochet is a great way to get to know your stitches. It can give you the opportunity to practice a stitch repeatedly while learning to master it. One of the most pleasing things I find about crochet is that if you mess it up you can simply pull the stitches out and start again. There arent many crafts that have that type of forgiveness. Free forming is the epitome of a forgiving craft that allows for total creative freedom.

Two ways to crochet..... free form and charts!!! That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it! :) :)
