This is such a great idea! My sister is really interested in this type of thing. I think I will try this for my nephew, due in October. Thank you to the person who posted the directions for a dbsc, that is very helpful! If it was not here, I would just look it up online, but now I dont have to.

This is a great use of Hyperbolic crochet. It's such an easy pattern and babies can get it into their hands! There seems to be a lot of confusion with the dbsc stitch that is used. Double single crochet is not a common stitch but it is a simple one.

This is a nice use of hyperbolic crochet. Its very easy to work up, and dont be put off by the designers use of dbscwhat she actually means is work 2 single crochet in one stitch. Yes, yes, yes about high contrast colors for baby toys!!! The only change I would make it to mix a little black and red into the ball itself and not just on the edges.

I would love to help you figure it out, mmurray22 but I can't even get the pattern to see what it means. The link is broken now and the page it points to says "This blog has been removed".

Blog and pattern have not been removed. It is located here http//thesunroomuk.blogspot.com/2009/10/baby-devel == opmental-ball.html#

Would love to make it but can't figure out what dbsc is

Start off like a regular sc and Insert hook into next stitch. YO and draw through one loop, and that will leave you with 2 loops on your hook. YO again and insert the hook back into the same stitch. YO draw another loop through the stitch, so you are left with 4 loops on your hook. YO and draw through all 4 loops at one time.

This is a very easy pattern, it's like amigurumi and if you skip a stitch no one is going to notice. I made it for 3 babies and plan on making more. I did use green for the trim, I think it contrasts with the white quite nicely!

LOVE IT. One question, what is dbsc? Is that a dc & sc in the same stitch?

Did not see a replyto this comment and cannot figure out how to proceed

I crocheted this for my great granddaughter a while back and it was so much fun to create. Her mom said she just loves to play with it. I made it white with red trim. It turned out really cute. Thanks for sharing this pattern.

I love this ball that will be so easy for baby to hold onto!!
