Choose a color based on the gender of the newborn or do a gender-neutral blanket if it's a surprise. Red Heart Baby yarn is used to work up this blanket in rows while the border is worked in rounds. Be advised that the above link takes you to the designers page rather than the pattern directly. Click on the photo of the blanket and that opens a .pdf to either save or print off. I actually prefer .pdf format because its much easier for me to pull up on my tablet if I want to save paper, or print out if I want to pass the pattern along.

I do not know what the Red Heart Baby Teri yarn is. If i knew what it is (was) I could most likely decide on an appropriate substitute for it. Could I use the Red Heart Soft instead? I am assuming it is a yarn that has a certain amount of loft to it, while still being a number three yarn? It looks heavenly in all white!

I love the look of this Cuddle Soft Baby Blanket. I had to download the pattern to see the picture and the pattern. No Bugs with the download, thankfully! With a simple shell stitch this one should work up quickly and be a nice gift to give for a baby shower. I'm thinking of buying Lion brand Ice Cream Glacee Helado for this. It's a nice soft Light #3 yarn that I'm using now for a baby blanket and I love this color. This is my next project! Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet pattern.

I would like to be able to view the pattern for this blanket before deciding whether I would make it. When I click the link to get the pattern, it immediately tries to save a pdf to my laptop without taking me to the designers site or even asking me if I want a file to download to my computer.

Hi Hippie Chick, I understand your hesitation - I've updated the pattern with a link to the designer's blog. Hope that helps! Julia, editor for AllFreeCrochet

Red Heart discontinued Baby Teri years ago, so in researching it, I found that it was worsted weight, not fine weight, as it states on this page. I think I'd substitute Plush Baby yarn. What have you substituted for this pattern? I'd love to make this - it looks so pretty! I meant to ask what YARN have you substituted for this. Thanks! :)
