The bad news is there is no photo at the top of this post. The good news is that this project is available as a free download from Yarnspirations (http//www.yarnspirations.com/patterns/simply-shaw == l.html?id=195348) AND I even found an instructional video, too. This Shell based shawl is very easy to work up as it primarily consists of repetitive stitch work. The border makes it so feminine and delicate. Perfect for a fall wedding!

Hi Jane, The photo should be appearing now! :) Julia, editor for AllFreeCrochet

Are there any increases for the body of the shawl?

Is there a You Tube tutorial for this shawl. Love it but I am a beginner and cannot understand the instructions like "shell" and would love to make it for my daughter

Has the border issue been resolved for the Simply White Shawl?"

I can't help with the stiches, but I hope it gets figured out because I'd love to make it!

So does anyone know how many chain spaces should be across the top, bottom and each side to get the border started?

Can someone please clarify the border instructions for me. I am not understanding it. Hopefully someone may have reworded it.

I dont know if I am just brain dead right now but I am having issues with the boarder

I just looked this up on Ravelry, due to a few users ending up with extra stitches. They have a pattern correction to start with 68 chains not 70. To those of you who have made this, does that sound right ?

I'm so glad I checked before I started a second time since that is exactly what happened to me.

Ha...had to figure out the 68 myself. Sorry I didn't read the comments first!

I've crocheted many things in the past 65 years and this is by far one of the most beautiful. I had no problem with either the body or the edging. I had intended this shaw for myself but I think it would make a lovely Christmas gift. Thank you for allowing us to use the pattern!!

I am working on this pattern and at the end of the row 3 the shells and the three double crochet I have a couple stitches left over what do I do with them? I have pointed out 3 times in redone it and I still have the same two stitches from row 1 I am too when I'm done with row 3. it's like a little tab sticking out

The body of the scarf went just fine. The border is another thing. The instructions really need to be gone over so that we can understand what is going on. I read each row of the border 6 or 7 times and finally with the last row did my own thing since it was not written clear enough. I have been crocheting for many, many years and at times the instructions do have errors. My advice is to write up the instructions, leave it for a day, come back and look it over again, you just might see an error. Or give it to someone not experienced in crochet and see if they understand.

I made this and it is beautiful...didn't have any trouble with the border. But on row 2 of the body of the shawl, I ended up with some extra stitches. Tore it out and started over...same thing. So I just left the extra and followed the pattern the rest of the way. This left a little tab sticking out that I just sort of turned back and crocheted into the border. I am making 3 of these for a wedding and have been informed that I need to make the flowergirl one too. Any ideas on cutting it down to a small child size? Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I should have said that it was easy until I got to the boarder, & I had trouble with it for a while. It took me a couple of hours to work the instructions out. I will copy the instructions above & keep it with the original pattern, in case I want to make it again in the future. Thank you very much

I made this shawl very recently, after not crocheting anything for many years, & it was quite easy. It looks great, & you can wear it many different ways. If you put it over your shoulders, the eding stands up like a "collar" if you want it to.

Thanks for responding, yes this is the pattern, I'm stuck from: Border row 1 "working in ends of rows, then it said "across. Join with sl st" Question: Wouldn't this be Row 2? Also below is row 2. this is where I'm confuse. Border row 2: Question: when it said "Repeat from *around." Does this mean around the entire shawl?

Sweetone I understand your confusion I think I can explain Border row starts off working across the top of row where the instructions say working on ends of rows this is where you turn the corner and work down the sides of the shawl where it says sc in next row ch across this means sc in each of the turning chains on the sides of rows thru so now you have gone across the top of the shawl and down one side The pattern goes on to say sc in first sc on starting row ch sk next sc sc in next sc This is where you are working across the bottom of the shawl in row Then the pattern says working in ends of rows now you are going up the other side of the shawl Border row just went around all sides of the shawl Border rows andRead More are worked all the way around the shawl also I hope this helps

I started this beautiful shawl, but got stuck on reading the border pattern and cannot find anyone to help. Even the most experience crochet person I know is having problems understanding it. Would love to get in touch with someone that have successfully made this shawl.
