This scarf can only protect the neck and nape area but it's good that it is able to do that function. It's lovely though. The color combination is ok, appropriate to wear in winter to make the gloomy atmosphere alive.

Its a little difficult to tell because of the yarn color, but this scarf is worked as a straight mesh rather than offset. Each Double Crochet is worked directly over a Double Crochet from the previous row, so it makes it easy for a Beginner to follow the texture pattern. The designer recommends a very bulky yarn and huge hook, but it would work with a slightly smaller hook and doubled yarn, too.

What a great beginner cowl. I have never seen or noticed this Mixology yarn by Red Heart that the designer of this cowl was lucky enough to have Red Heart donate the yarn to. This is a great mix of color that combine so nicely together to make this lovely scarf.
